Hormone levels can vary in the time leading up to the final menstrual period, this phase is called perimenopause and can last for up to 10 years. Menopause occurs when you have not had a menstrual period for 12 months.
Symptoms of perimenopause and menopause can include:

- Irregular or heavier periods
- Problems sleeping
- Dry skin and hair
- Pain in your joints and tiredness
- Anxiety or mood changes
- Dry vagina / painful sex
